Thomas P. Melcher is executive vice president and managing executive of Hawthorn, PNC Family Wealth®, which is dedicated to serving the needs of individuals and families with investable assets in excess of $20 million. With national responsibility for this business, Mr. Melcher oversees the investment process and all facets of client acquisition and servicing. He also personally manages nearly $2 billion for ultra high-net worth individuals and families. In addition, he is a member of the PNC Wealth Management Investment Policy Committee, the Investment Advisor Research Committee, and the Risk Management, Investment and Fiduciary Committee.
Mr. Melcher joined PNC in 1991 and, prior to being named to his current position, was senior vice president and chief investment officer for PNC Wealth Management in Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. In this capacity, he was responsible for investment activity in the market, including overseeing and communicating PNC's investment process and strategies to portfolio managers and clients. Mr. Melcher is a past recipient of PNC's Performance Award, the highest honor attainable by employees.
Mr. Melcher frequently appears on CNBC for his expert commentary, and has been quoted extensively in the financial press, including BusinessWeek, Barron's and American Banker. A frequent public speaker, he has presented at The Philadelphia Inquirer's Intelligent Investing Conference, the Philadelphia Federal Reserve Banks' Entrepreneur Forum and the PNC Executive Series at the Southern New Jersey Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Melcher was first named one of the "Top 100 Wealth Advisors" in the nation by Worth Magazine in 2006. In addition, in 2005 he was selected as one of the Philadelphia Business Journal's "40 under 40," an award given to 40 of the region's top young professionals.
